Find out what IWD means to our Senior Social Media Executive, Hannah Wester!

When our Senior Social Media Executive Hannah Wester, isn’t taking Spanish classes, going to the theatre or kayaking off of the coast of Devon, you’ll find Hannah campaigning for a gender equal world. In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) we asked Hannah which female leaders inspire her, and what advice she’d give to any women looking to enter the B2B marketing industry.

Can you tell us about a female role model who has inspired you?

I think Phoebe Waller-Bridge is extremely inspiring. She’s doing some incredible work and she really highlights the talent of female writers and producers in television, especially when there are continuous conversations around female representation in film and TV.

We’re finally seeing women in mainstream TV being unapologetically unshielded and flawed. In both her’Killing Eve‘ and ‘Fleabag‘, we’ve got female characters with complex relationships and raw experiences. We’ve seen  been some of the most real and understood depictions of women on-screen.

What does this year’s International Women’s Day slogan, “Each for Equal”, mean to you?

“Each for Equal” is such a great slogan for this year’s IWD. It’s so simple but really highlights that everyone has a part to play in equality. If everyone does their bit, then we can really make changes for the better.

I think it’s so important that future generations are educated and brought up in gender equal environments so that we can move towards an equal future for all; this is where I can play my part with my nieces and nephews by showing them that everyone is equal, no matter your gender or identity.

How can you help to create a ‘Gender Equal’ world?

I think it’s so important that we educate and bring up future generations  in gender equal environments – it means that we can move towards an equal future for all. This is where I can play my part with my nieces and nephews by showing them that everyone is equal, no matter your gender or identity.

What advice would you give to women wanting to start out in the B2B marketing industry?

We’re lucky today in that we have platforms such as LinkedIn to join in on industry conversations, grow your network further and have your voice heard. I would recommend to anyone looking to start out in the industry to make full use of these platforms, especially as a continuous educational tool for insights and knowledge that it makes so readily available.
